Jobbik denied crime referendum | The Budapest Times

“The National Election Committee (OVB) has scuppered an attempt by far-right party Jobbik to force a referendum on depriving the families of young offenders of social security.

The party – the second-largest on the opposition benches – relies on a campaign against what it calls “Gypsy crime” for much of its support. Jobbik wanted the parents of under-18s who have been convicted of crimes ranging from robbery to murder to be made ineligible for social security.”
