HOPE not hate international: Queens community taking stand against neo-nazi group

More on the fascist, racist, anti-Roma party Golden Dawn, now setting up chapters in North America:

“A Queens community is taking a stand against a hate group looking to move into their neighborhood.

Neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn announced in late September that they would be opening up a headquarters in New York.

Officials say there are reports of Golden Dawn activity as well as sighting of their literature around Astoria.

The party made waves this summer, winning 18 of the Greek Parliament’s 300 seats.

“I was disgusted,” said Public Advocate Bill de Blasio. “The notion that literally a neo-fascist party would try to establish itself in the middle of New York City, to come in here to Astoria, try to say to the Greek community that we should be anti-immigrant, that we should deny the existence of the Holocaust.”

“I can speak for many of my fellow Greek-Americans to say that we do not accept a group whose primary purpose is to spew hate language,” said Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas.

Astoria is home to one of the largest Greek communities in the country.”
